May 26 - Natural Home Cleanser- $25 1-3 PM $40 Making your own natural home cleansers is easy, economical, and fun! We will show participants how to make laundry soap, glass cleaner and tub scrub which they will take home with them. Emphasis on using easy to find, affordable, natural ingredients. Taught by Donna and Maggie.

June 2 - Weed Walk - $25 12-2 PM Students from every level are invited to join Lynn Parkey, CGRM, Herbalist and Donna Julseth, co-owner of Prairieland Herbs for an herb walk. You will be able to identify, smell, touch and otherwise experience many of the edible and medicinal wild plants that spring has to offer here in Iowa. Get to know the plants “up close and personal” that share space with you and meet fellow students. 

June 9 - PIE! - $40 1-3 PM You will learn the skill of how to render lard, make great crust, seasonal fruit and meat filling, pie lore plus so much more! Each student will finish class with a pie hot from the oven or ready to bake at home, bag of lard to render at home, a rendered pint of lard ready to cook with, and a recipe book. Taught by Danelle Stamps, of The Stamps Family Farm.

For Workshops you will bring: Your favorite apron, 8”- 9” pie pan, BIG mixing bowl and a spoon
(something you can comfortably get both hands in, at least 6 qt), A box or basket to take your just baked pie home...and a smile, that’s the most important thing!

June 23 - Herbs Lotions and Potions Part 1- $45 1-3 PM This is our most popular class! Learn to make two kinds of bath salts, and a salt and a sugar scrub. Learn about what ingredients you need to make these luxuries at home! Emphasis is on easy to find ingredients, this is a fun and informal class. You'll go home with your own custom made products, and tons of recipes. Taught by Donna and Maggie.

July 7 - Preserving Your Herbal Harvest- $40 12-2 PM Learn to tincture and dry herbs for later use.  You will take home a tincture of your own making!  Handouts included. Use herbs from your garden or wildcrafted herbs! Class taught by Lynn Parkey, CGRM, Herbalist.

July 28 - Herbs Lotions and Potions 2- $45 1-3 PM Learn to make your own lip balms and body butters! A fun, hands on class. You will go home with your own custom made lip balms and body butters, and tons of recipes. Taught by Donna and Maggie.

August 4 - Herbal Salve & Gel Making- $40 12-2 PM Use your herbs to craft external salves for use on bug bites, bee stings, irritations and sores.  Use herbs from your garden or wildcrafted herbs! Class taught by Lynn Parkey, CGRM, Herbalist.

August 18 - Herbal Vinegars- $40 1-3 PM Your herb garden is going crazy...what to do with all those herbs? Make herbal vinegars! Learn to make gourmet herbal vinegars in various combinations to use in cooking and baking. (Hint: think ahead and you can make loads for holiday gifts!) But also, did you know that herbal vinegars are excellent for bath and body use? Learn to make bodycare vinegars perfect for a hair rinse, sunburn treatment, or pampering bath addition. Make and take home several kinds of vinegars, plus loads of recipes. Please bring 3-4 recycled 8-16 oz jelly or food jars with secure lids, if you have some.

Date TBA , Soapmking 101 - $60 1-3 PM Want to learn to make cold-process soap? Karla Moore, of Heart of Iowa Soapworks, will teach the art and craft of old-fashioned soapmaking in this class. Lye safety will be emphasized. You will make and take home your own custom-scented 2 lb. batch of cold-process soap. Please note that you should wear old clothes, and that for safety reasons, the class will be strictly limited to six participants.

If you are unable to attend a class you have registered for, please give us 48 hours notice, otherwise we will need to charge your card as normal.
